Update

The complication that I mentioned before may end up causing a very significant delay in our adoption process.

When I pushed for a specific time line, I was told that in the past, this kind of thing could take around two years to correct, but that in my case they are praying it will go much more quickly.

I had no reason to suspect this journey would go beyond 2008, but it seems that with the latest problem that has come up, it is a very real possibility.

And... I have been told by recent visitors to Casa Bernabe that Debora is having crying fits every night. No wonder... first her birth mother neglected and abandonded her, then her house parents abandoned her, and now her adoptive mother keeps visiting and abandoning her over and over on every visit. Without any real language yet, it is impossible for her to understand what's really going on and why the people she is attached to keep leaving.

The only solution I can think of at this very moment is to pack my bags, move to Guatemala, and wait there with my daughter until this nightmare is over...
